Great to help kids organize what they
will be writing about

Writing Process Signs
I printed these off in color and then I
laminated them. I put small magnets on the back so I could
hang it on my file cabinet. Whenever I am giving kids
directions about what they should be doing, I can just grab a sign
and hang it on my white board!

Writing Conferences Sheet
I have used this form to keep
track of who I have and have not conferred with yet. It helps
to either prewrite or type all the students names in before printing
the form. This way you can tell, at a glance, who you still
need to conference with. To read about other ways I keep track
of who needs a conference,

Writing
Conferences
I got this idea from a teacher at my
school that is so AMAZING organized. She floors me with her
simple, but efficient ideas.
She posts who she is going to have
writing conferences for the day on the write board. She does
this by writing each students name no a small piece of sentence
strips and then she laminates them. Then the labels are
clipped to the board in the order they need conferences (about 4
students per day). She keeps the names in a suction cup soap
holder. Students are responsible for moving their name to the back
of the holder after they have conference it keep the order.
My take on this: I will print out the
students names using these labels under this title "topper."
Then I will laminate and cut out the labels. On the back of each
kids label, I will put two magnets. I will keep all the names
in a soap basket like the one mentioned above. I will display
this on my file storage cabinet. I will post a picture of this
when I get it all set up.

Time and
Order Words
I have had these for awhile. I
can't believe I haven't posted them! Or...maybe I did and now
I can't remember! : )
I made these clocks to help with
sequencing writing. I have used them in both my fourth and
second grade classroom. We brainstorm the words and then I
keep them up on my white board. I cut them out, laminated them
and put magnets on the back. We can rearrange the words and
order them and use them as sentences starters when we write our "How
To" pieces. I also used them in reading when I did mini
lessons on sequencing.

Writing
Posters
Although theses are not printables, I
thought people might like to see them! Throughout the school
year I teach different mini lessons on the writing process. I
teach several different revision and editing strategies. In
the beginning of the year the class brainstorms two large posters,
one for revision and one for editing. These posters stay up all
year. As we learn more strategies, I add them to the correct
poster. Students refer to these when working on their writing
pieces.
Recipe for a Story Cards
These are cards I
created that I will use when I teach the lesson, Recipe for a Story.
Basically all storied must have a beginning, middle and end.
Generally certain things are found in each section.

Good
Endings Poster
This posters shows
students what constitutes a good ending- it was all a dream and to
be continued are not on the list! I did not create this list.
I gathered all the ideas from a workbook Basic, Not Boring!
workbook.

Cute
Pencil Writing Stage Posters
I haven't quite figured
out how I will use these next year. However, I think I will
somehow use them when kids are producing final drafts to track where
everyone's progress through the steps.
